Peace Industry is a San Francisco based rug company that specializes in modern wool felt area rugs. A collaborative partnership, inspired by their unique story and dedication to craft, not only resulted in custom designed rugs, but also custom made felt covers for Turnstone’s Buoy seating product. Sharing the aesthetic of Peace Industry’s ‘choobs’ and baskets, these covers add a new level of materiality and craftsmanship to the product, and whose addition to Coalesse’s spaces demonstrate how all the Steelcase Inc. brands can work better together.
Based on a color palette inspired by the California landscape, the covers blended neutrals with colors and introduced accents through the stitching details.
These covers where featured in Coalesse and Steelcase’s Merchandise Mart showrooms at Neocon 2017. They can also be seen on Buoys at Steelcase’s newly opened Learning + Innovation Center in Munich, Germany.
