The purpose of this project was to update Exponents, an existing furniture collection found in Coalesse’s portfolio. It was keystone collection from the company’s start but had not been updated in almost ten years. The line was originally designed to support the conference room, but the changing office landscape, especially how and where people are meeting, presents new needs and desires not found in the existing products. The collection includes credenzas, serving carts, personal carts (Moby), benches, and mobile media and display boards. Key insights from sales representative interviews, technology research, and office space observations shed light on some concept focus areas : dimensions, CMF, features, and expanding into new product typologies.
Much of the work that went into this project is still under NDA; two examples of the conceptualized expansion and edits to the collection were showcased in Coalesse’s Chicago showroom for Neocon 2016.
