A collaboration between Coalesse and Designtex, a New York-based textile company, bridged a continent. Despite studios existing on opposite coasts, the remote collaboration generated a unique collection of textiles that speaks to both companies’ expertise. The basis of the project was to build a stronger partnership between the companies while using textiles as a vehicle to support Coalesse’s investigation into color and pattern.
A sampling of the textiles were produced and previewed at Neocon 2017. The full collection preview launched at Neocon 2018.

The collaboration resulted in a diverse array of products; the teams favored natural fibers when possible but also celebrated the unique qualities that synthetics offer. Some of the textiles utilized key existing products in the Designtex line in new and exciting ways, while others presented a more specialized approach through the processes that create them.
A preview of the textiles were shown both upholstered on a variety of products throughout the Coalesse showroom and as a set of samples for customers to engage with during Neocon 2017. Additionally, Designtex displayed a selective sampling of the collection in their showroom installation.
